DEFENDER OF FAITH

Jehovah's witness

Started in late 1800’s by Charles Taze Russell, from a bible study, Jehovah's Witnesses say only 144,000k go to Heaven, But the Bible clearly states in rev 7 that those 144K are jews that get saved in the great tribulation.

ROSE AND REVEALED

The don’t believe that he rose and revealed himself, they believe that He vaporized basically, in the tomb. The Bible clearly says that He was held after the resurrection, that He ate, people touched Him, hugged Him and that He ministered after the resurrection.

NO HELL

They believe there is no hell.  But the Bible tells us that hell was created for the devil and his demons and people that reject the gospel will go there and suffer.  It is a place of weeping and gnashing of teeth.

HOLY SPIRIT IS A PERSON

They don’t believe that the HS is a person.  I don’t mean human, I mean a distinct God of the trinity.  They believe there is no trinity.  There is only God the father, Christ is not God, and the HS is not God.  They believe the HS is a force, like electric.

***The Bible says He would send to us a HS and He said, HE would abide in you, HE will convict you of sin, HE will guide you in truth, HE will glorify Christ, will also pray for you.  Romans 8 says the HS will interceded for us with goanings that can’t be uttered.  That is not a force of electricity, that is a discyinct person of the trinity.

But they attack the identity of Christ.  6 ways they attack it, and why they are bogus

  1. Jesus Was Created

  2. Because the bible says he was the beginning of creation they believe he had a beginning and was created.  The bible says that the words beginning of means originator or architect.  Christ IS the beginning of all creation because all creation started with Him.  It’s as simple as that.  And they want to twist it around.

Rev Ch 3:14.   And unto the angel of the church of the Lay a do ceans Laodiceans write;; These are the words of Jesus  ..These things says (and HE gives Himself titles) the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God

What a JW will say is Christ is the first thing Jehovah created.

Rev 1:8   Jesus said:  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Alpha is the first and Omega is last.  All that means is everything starts with me and everything ends with me.  it doesn’t mean he had a beginning and has an end…..HE’S ETERNAL!  They’re trying to tell you that He’s the first thing created when in fact He’s the CREATOR!

Colossians 1:15 reads, He is the image of the invisible God, stop!  If you wanna see God, you can look at Jesus

We are NOT the image of the invisible God………in our hearts, love, conscience, forgive….we are made IN the image of God, but Jesus IS the image of God

16 For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.  17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead;

Christ wasn’t created.  He created everything

But JW will say that God brought Christ into existence, then Christ brought everything else……

Hmmmmmmm

Turn to Isaiah CH 44.   isaiah says that God, BY HIMSELF, created everything.  Well if Jesus created everything, and God created everything, and there not the same person……one of them’s wrong!

Isaiah 44:24New American Standard Bible (NASB)

24 Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, and the one who formed you from the womb,

“I, the Lord, am the maker of all things,

Stretching out the heavens by Myself

And spreading out the earth [a]all alone,

Paul said Jesus created everything.  Well guess what…..they’re the same person!

       2.  Jesus was the first born, so He is not God, he was born.

First born is a title…and status symbol!  Not a birth order position

Genesis 48

In the old test, when the father died, he would give the first born the inheritance.  he was the leader and to care for the family.  And it went to the most responsible child, which often times was the first born child, but sometimes it was not.  this was the first born blessing!    It’s not always the one born first in order, it’s the one God designates as the most blessed, or nation for that matter.

In the story, Jacob had 12 sons and was a bout to die.  So he starts to give blessings to his children, and grandchildren.  Well 2 of his grandsons were Monassa and Ephraim, they were brothers.  Manassa was the older.  Jacob was placing his hands on them and whoever got the right hand, got the bigger blessing.   The blessing of the first born.  Well he places his right hand on the younger son.  The dad says no this is the younger, place your right hand on the older.  and the granddad says, no the younger will be greater than older.

Gen 48:17

Jeremiah 31:9 refers to this instance with the phrase because I am Israel's father, and Ephraim is my firstborn son. Ephraim was not the firstborn, but he received the blessing of the firstborn and therefore had the status of the firstborn. Like Ephraim, Jesus has the status of the firstborn.

Psalm 89:27,  God said I will make David my the first born.   I will also appoint him my firstborn, the most exalted of the kings of the earth. King David had seven older brothers.  He wasn’t even #2.   He was not the first or the last king of Israel.  He had no birth right no matter how you look at it.  But God said, I’m going to make him greater than all, and make him the one whom my son, the Christ will be forever linked and in the official lineage of.    So when you see Jesus as the first born, He is the one with the preeminent blessing to lead the church, to preach and problem the gospel.   It doesn’t mean He was born, it means He got the blessing of first born.

3.  Jesus submits to the father so he is less than the father

John 14

You hear many times in the Bible Jesus submitting to the father.  He says, I have come to do the will of the father, to receive, i do what he says, he granted me this, or that.  JW will say that because he is serving the father, he is less than the father.

We hear it said, wives submit to your husbands…….

John 14:28   John 14:28New American Standard Bible (NASB)

28 You heard that I said to you, ‘I go away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced because I go to the Father, for the Father is greater than I.  they will tell you that because he said that, he is less than the father. that’s not what He’s sayingBut the Bible says that He he humbled himself.  HE humbled HIMSELF…Humility doesn’t make you lesser.

NKJ  Philippians 2:3-8 3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,   Can you rob something you already posses?  Jesus did not consider it robbery to be equal with God. You cannot rob something you already own. Jesus was and is equal with God.    Why didn’t He consider it robbery?…..cause He was already God!

7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.  He submitted himself.  The intro to Passion of The Christ

In John 10:30, Jesus states, I and the Father are one.

Just cause He submitted and did things as a man doesn’t make Him not God.  By doing things as a man, and submitting, He’s showing us what to do:  Worshiped….called…..son of God/man….prayed to…..sinless and tempted……knows all things AND grew in wisdom…..He is eternal God, AND he died.  John the Baptist said….why am I doing this for you?

4.  Jesus is the Archangel Michael

But the Bible says Jesus is superior to all the angels

Revelation ….turn backwards to the book of Jude

Tell them, show me ONE place where the Bible says that.  It doesn’t.

But if that’s not enough.  So check out this story.

Michael is having a debate with the devil over the body of Moses.  Moses died at Mt. Nebo

The Bible says his body was never found……prob would’ve been worshipped

So they’re having this argument and Michael (who they say is Jesus) doesn’t rebuke the devil himself, he says, “The lord rebuke you”

If Michael is Jesus, why doesn’t he rebuking him himself?

Cause in Matthew 4, Jesus went head to head with the devil.  He didn’t have a problem with that.  He didn’t have to go talk to his dad.

Jude 1:9 Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!" Michael did not rebuke the devil on his own strength, but on the Lord's strength.

Rev 22:8 - angels are not to be worshipped.

Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. Then he said to me, "See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God." The angel tells John not to worship him, but to worship God. Jesus never had to say this to anyone who worshipped Him because He is God.

Jesus received worshipped repeatedly.  The blind man, the leper, demon possessed people, john said my lord my God, the disciples, He received worship.  well if jesus was michael, we got a problem

5.  In John 1:1, they add the word "a" so that it reads "The word was "a" God.

They have their own bible.  and only they have it.  it doesn’t agree with any other versions…..

Their’s is the only Bible that says that bc they put it in there.

It is not in the Greek!  Here’s what you say.  Was He a true God, or false God?  If there was God and the word was A God, then that’s another God.  Is this a true God or false God?

They will say God is the Almighty God, and Jesus is a lesser God.

But Isaiah 9:6 reads, For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Jehovah's Witnesses may try to point out that the description of Jesus as Mighty God is different than descriptions of God the Father as Almighty God. This is absolutely not true, because Everlasting Father is also used to describe Jesus, directly after Mighty God.  HE'S EVERLASTING...A.K.A.....ETERNAL!  The everlasting father!  How can JESUS be The Eternal Father, and God be The Eternal Father, if they aren't the SAME person?!

THEY ARE, period!
